La Bella Bride Showcase at the Omni Parker House in Boston

This was the weekend of the LaBella Bride Boston Showcase at the Omni Parker house. Bob and I decided it would be easier to stay over night for this particular event and boy am I glad we did! The hotel is spectacular! When entering the hotel it is like taking a walk back in time. Between the ornate architecture and the Parker House history this overnight stay had a truly regal feel.  This was the hotel which John Kennedy asked Jacqueline to be his wife in the restaurant,  he also announced his presidency in the press room at the hotel. Katina picked the perfect romantic background for her last show of this winter season.

Scott Connery from the Biltmore Hotel in Providence opened the fashion show with the band Sugar Foot & Brass Kickin Horns. Following the opening was a custom slide show done by me of the cover couple from the magazine showing their escaped through Newport. The models from The Beauty Within then showcased the gowns down the runway as the crowd of excited brides cheered and clapped. The gowns for this show were provided by my good friends Fatima & Carol from Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique in Fall River. Fatima has exquisite taste and always brings the finest gowns to the show. Runched lace, flowing silk shantung as well as chiffon these gowns had it all. The sexy hair and makeup for the models were provided by Erin & Kim from Artworx! The stunning florals held by the models were provided by Dana Markos, The runway music was chosen by myself and our good friend Victor from Party Time who  also provided the sound. The fashion show production & set design was provided by Jack & Deb Falvey of  Jack Falvey associates. The show was recorded by Bob who will post that at a later date

Rosecliff Bridal Show

Saturday Bob and I spent the day at the Rosecliff Mansion for the Newport Bridal Expo. We love bridal shows for a few different reasons. One, we get to show off our stuff (yes sometimes we like to brag a little), two we get to hang out with our vendor friends, three we get to meet a whole new era of couples ready to take on the planning their wedding day! This year I shot the fashion show for my good friend Pam from The Beauty Within and her friend’s at Bridal & Gift Boutique which showcased their stunning wedding gowns down the famed red carpet sweetheart staircase. I have to say I am very excited to see so many new exciting designs and sleek cuts to the gowns. This season the emphasis is definitely on glamour, sexy and bold! The addition of color to the gowns whether hand painted silk, or eye catching statement shoes mixed with the birds nest veils and feather fascinator’s is getting me excited to start the 2010 wedding season. I can’t wait to see what my brides are going to surprise me with!

I recognize that staircase! I used to work many events at Rosecliff, and I think that staircase was made for brides to be photographed on.

Rosecliff is one of many great Newport RI wedding locations. The history of the house and the amazing back lawn and view of the ocean can’t be beat!

Brian & Sara Armstrong ~ Rosecliff Mansion Newport RI

I still remember the first time I saw Brian and Sara, we were at the Newport Bridal show set up at the Rosecliff Mansion. When they walked through the door it was love at first site. Both were tall and beautiful, but that wasn’t what attracted me to them it was their smiles and how they were interacting with each other. As the show continued on, we met some really amazing people,   however the couple who commanded the room  had yet to come to our booth. Just as we were ready to close down Sara & Brian approached our booth. I was thrilled to meet this fun happy couple who knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding day images. I was totally excited when they booked me for their photographer. I knew their wedding day was going to be fun but more to my surprise was the way their family’s welcomed me into their family. Their wedding ceremony took place at Saint Columba’s  19th-century stone chapel. The small stone building contains a most precious and astounding collection of stained-glass windows, whether by Tiffany or Maitland Armstrong.

they had the Brandy Band the caterer was Blackstone Catering, and cake was by Tracey Cakes

Michael & Justine MacKechnie ~ Castle Hill Newport RI

Tonight I spent most of the evening surfing Facebook and found my self stalking my brides sites looking at all the images I took for them throughout the season. It’s so funny that while I do edit all the images myself I found that I had already forgotten some really beautiful and emotion filled images that I had taken throughout the year.  More importantly I was humbled by all the remarks from family and friends about the images I had captured for my brides.

This particular wedding  stands out for me this evening, let my tell you why

The first time I met Justine and Michael was at Justine’s sister Kristin’s wedding. Immediately Bob and I were welcomed into the family with open arms. The whole family came in to plan the nuptials of Kristin’s wedding which was a warm family based event that took place at the Ocean Cliff three years ago.  We were thrilled when Justine decided to also use our services for her wedding since we already connected with the family and were excited to share in her wedding day. The morning of Justine’s wedding I showed up at the house just like I had done 3 yrs prior for her sister. The house had not changed much from the last time I was there except for the many images hanging on the walls from Kristin’s wedding. I will say I was shocked it is not often that we as photographers get a chance to go back into the home of our brides parents and see how they have utilized the many images that we capture throughout the day. Yes of course we see the album but walls and hall entries with family and memories from a day which was so dominant in their lives all captured by me, well it’s enough to bring anyone to tears. As a photographer I understand how important it is to capture the right moment and that the image captured is of optimal quality for the client to enjoy for a life time, but never has it resignation more for me than when I looked up at the wall of the finely printed and mounted images hanging on the wall that morning.

Tonight, Justine’s status came up and I noticed she had again changed her profile picture. She has done so religiously since she received her disk. I clicked on the image and it brought me to the uploaded wedding images which I captured, I then started to read the comments. Again another moment of self awareness, the images which I had taken can affect the lives of so many people long after the wedding.

Justine & Michael’s staff for the day were Bob as disc jockey, Neal disc jockey assistant, Jeremy for videography, Michelle Carpenter as lead photographer and Renee as second photographer

Other vendors for this day included stunning floral decor from Golden Gate Florist and a delectable yummy cake by Scrumptions the venue provided the gourmet meal for the guests Castle Hill Newport RI

Justine MacKechnie - February 13, 2010 - 11:08 pm

Another important thing I thought people should know was that when Michael and I were choosing the date for the wedding, the location, the florist… everything was based on the fact that Main Event was available on August 1st. Within the week of our engagement the summer before, I called Bob and Michelle and asked for their availability, and when I knew they could only do August 1st- I knew we were getting married somewhere on that day. My sister’s wedding pictures were gorgeous and the party never stopped— I knew that our wedding day had to have Main Event helping us celebrate. Our pictures are the most beautiful pictures ever and they truly captured how amazing that day was. I am so thankful that Michelle, Bob, Jeremy, and Renee were there to help us make our wedding day as memorable as it was!
